This is it, the last ever interview with Snideline! After a rather interesting gig at the Aldershot West End Centre, the band have sadly decided to split up. That's a real shame because I thought Snideline were a great band, and 'Too Long' was particularly special. Marc, Clare and Greg have formed a new band which should be gigging soon, so look out for them. Jo is writing songs and is putting a new band together too.
How did Snideline come about, and who are your influences?
Marc, Clare and Greg formed the band, then Jo joined soon after. The band came about through friendship and a want to be popstars! Influences are as varied as a spice rack, Europe being one of them!
Where's the best place you've played and why?
Probably the West End Centre, Aldershot or the Farnham Maltings- good P.A. and quite good crowds- not the Tumbledown Dick!
Do you hope to become as much local favorites as Inter are?
We did! Oh well! They're doing well for themselves - we're pleased!
How do you feel you have progressed as a band from the first demo tape, and what's different about your second demo?
The studio was booked for a second demo, but never recorded! Sorry. There was just better songs and Marc sang a bit too!
How big would you like to be?
As big as the Bill Clinton scandal!
What are your favorite other local bands?
Inter, Avalanche, Kilter and Dick Savage.
How important are fanzines in promoting bands?
Very important: they are normally unbiased, don't like bands because of a scene, and are doing it for their utmost love for it - not for money and so on. It's normally a very important first step for a band and record companies do sometimes take interest.
What are your plans for the rest of the year?
Split up and from two supergroups!
